The Nvwoti Collective
Origins, Meaning, & Intent
The term nvwoti (nūwōti | ᏅᏬᏘ | Tsalagi) originates from the Cherokee people (Aniyvwiya | AniGaduwagi), and represents an ancient system of sacred wisdom, practice, and medicine that have been passed down in living culture and oral tradition for millennia. At an essential level, nvwoti is a path of aligned understanding, balance, harmony, and honoring all of our sacred relations - all to which we are inseparably interconnected. This way should not be conflated in any manner with Western “medical practice”, as doing so would be profoundly limiting to the depth of the Cherokee tradition and a disservice to both. As founders, we chose the name of our Collective to honor a sacred path that holds deep personal meaning, commit to building new ways for Indigenous teachers to share old wisdom, and with hopes that the essence of nvwoti would inform every facet of the community we co-create and the work we undertake together.
We’re co-creating the leading virtual Community of Practice connecting practitioners, students, and providers to share unique expertise around our love for Yoga, Herbalism, Meditation, Holistic Wellness, Native/Indigenous teachings, and related wisdom traditions. Nvwoti Collective serves as the sinew to forge connections, transcend barriers, increase your access to holistic self-practices wherever you are in your journey.
